This is the first I have heard of this facility, having stumbled on this website. Reading the previous comments, I wish 2 years on, someone in the Council would have heeded the requests to advertise so that the public were aware of its existence. I might still have a bike now if I had known about Drury St, as it was stolen from the Luas Stop at Stephen’s Green like so many others!

An entire floor was cleared losing the revenue from the number of fee paying car parking spaces on that floor that were lost.

It does not follow that any cyclists using it was not already coming into the area. Neither does it follow that they are actually spending any money as a result of using Drury St.

The fact is that after the expense of the conversion bikes are still locked to anything and everything in the streets around Drury St.

But then they would be since there is no law for cyclists in Dublin.

Meanwhile Drury street is not even half full over 2 years after it was set up. I’ve passed it at least 4 or 5 times a week since it was opened and nothing has changed. All you have to do is provide evidence of it regularly being used up to it’s capacity.

Were you bothered to read the beginning of this post you would find the names of the people responsible.

At just half full that represents 6 times the amount of people ( and therefore commercial activity and tax revenue) brought to the area by the facility than the 16 car spaces replaced.

If you are going to make a dig at this initiative at least be more diligent with your research and not cherry pick one time from the entire weeks usage.

On Friday afternoon 10/06/11 just past 5.30 pm Drury St bicycle facility was half empty.

Why is it half empty when the streets immediately around are full of bicycles locked to everything and anything?

How much money has this cost the taxpayer in lost revenue?

What are the names of the people who came up with this idea?

Excellent idea, any chances to see similar on the north side? Parnell Centre on Parnell Street (beside Cineworld) would ideal location!

First I heard of the Drury Street Park was to-day in June 2011, when I stumbled on this website. It seems more publicity is required. I look forward to using this desirable facility soon.

I’ve only stumbled across this now but would have been using it for the last few months if I had known about it. It’s a great initiative and there is definitely demand for more of these facilities so it would be a shame if low usage was interpreted as indicating lack of demand rather than lack of awareness of it.

Wow, this is great for Dublin commuters. I do not park in town for the fear of bike theft. This is an excellent initiative. Just need to tell folks about it.
